FURTHER EXPANSION
Major hospitality group IHG revealed this year's planned hotel openings in China on Monday, showing its confidence in its fastest-growing region. IHG will continue to develop new projects in first-tier cities and expand its footprint in new leisure destinations and lower-tier cities. Western China and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area are especially important markets for the group, said Jolyon Bulley, CEO of IHG Greater China.
TOURISM BOOST
The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in Northwest China will attempt to attract more than 200 million tourists this year. It aims to receive more than 400 million domestic and international tourists by 2025, said Shohrat Zakir, chairman of the region. His comments appeared in a government work report presented to the regional legislature's annual session on Monday. Xinjiang welcomed more than 158 million tourists in 2020 despite the effects of COVID-19.
NEW OPENING
Ocean Spring Resort Chengdu-MGallery opened in the capital city of Sichuan province, Southwest China, on Wednesday. With natural hot springs as a signature feature, the first MGallery-branded hotel offers a pampering treat, its executives said. There is a 3,500-square-meter hot spring center in the hotel, which is comprised of 21 therapeutic pools set within landscaped gardens and waterways.
CULINARY DELIGHT
The St. Regis Beijing is offering the Blue Note Chocolate Trio afternoon tea at the hotel's Garden Lounge throughout February and March. On Valentine's Day, the afternoon tea will contain two glasses of G.H. Mumm champagne. Guests who purchase the Art of Celebration room package can also enjoy the afternoon tea for two people once for every stay.
