Shanghai plans carbon emissions peak by 2025
Shanghai aims to bring the city's carbon dioxide emissions to a peak before 2025, five years ahead of the national target of 2030, local authorities said on Sunday. Shanghai will formulate a citywide action plan to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction in key fields such as electricity, steel and chemical industries, according to the report. The plan includes lowering the proportion of total coal consumption in primary energy consumption to about 30 percent and increasing the proportion of natural gas consumption to about 15 percent.
CNOOC reveals scope of Huizhou 26-6 field
China National Offshore Oil Corp, one of the country's three major oil and gas companies, said on Monday that it has recorded proven oil and gas geological reserves of 50 million metric tons oil equivalent at its Huizhou 26-6 field. Located in the eastern part of the South China Sea, the field, with an average water depth of 113 meters, is expected to become the first mid-to-large-sized condensate oil and gas field in the shallow water area of the basin and tested to produce more than 500 cubic meters of oil and 600,000 cubic meters of gas each day.
