TOKYO - Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Tuesday said that Japan will compile an additional economic package.

"We will maintain employment, keep businesses going, revive the economy and open a path to growth including through green and digital technology," Suga said of the package at a meeting of the government and ruling parties.

The package will be to the tune of $707 billion and has been compiled with the aim of helping to mitigate the negative economic impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Later in the day, Suga's Cabinet will likely approve the stimulus package.
