TOURISM PROMOTION

Northwest China's Qinghai province launched a monthslong promotion in late November to expand its winter-and-spring plateau tourism market. According to the provincial department of culture and tourism, the campaign will introduce 100 ecocultural tourism routes covering 155 scenic areas and attractions in all eight cities and autonomous prefectures across Qinghai. A total of 334 activities including folk customs, self-driving tours, ice and snow tourism, photography tours and intangible cultural heritage will be promoted.

PICKUP IN INDUSTRY

The hospitality industry registered an increase of 0.8 percent in revenue in October, the first year-on-year positive growth for 2020, People's Daily quoted the data from the China Hospitality Association. The sector generated nearly 2.96 trillion yuan ($453 billion) in business revenue from January to October. During the third quarter of 2020, it recovered some 80 percent of the accommodation business revenue compared to last year.

GREEN DRIVE

Accor Greater China announced on Wednesday that it will replace single-use plastic bathroom amenities with a biodegradable solution. The rollout is part of the group's commitment to reducing its impact on the environment and to create positive, sustainable hospitality. A launch ceremony was held in Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao, with the attendance of local government officials and Accor management, as well as professionals from industry associations and hospitality partners.

THANKSGIVING PARTY

Modena by Fraser Zhuankou Wuhan, a serviced apartment property in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, held a gala night on Nov 24, two days ahead of this year's Thanksgiving Day. The venue was decorated with paintings, dovetailing with its theme, Night of Art. John Png, general manager of the property, said his team has overcome difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic and launched innovative services to meet guests' demand. Health and safety will remain a priority in their future work, the manager said.
