Foreign Ministry urges US to end abuse of national power

China on Friday urged the United States to stop abusing national power and stop over-stretching the concept of national security to suppress foreign companies after the US government added four Chinese firms to a blacklist of alleged Chinese military companies.
"China is firmly opposed to the US' wanton suppression of Chinese companies and has repeatedly stated our opposition," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters at a regular news briefing in Beijing.
On Thursday, the US Department of Defense designated a total of four additional companies as owned or controlled by the Chinese military. They are Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, China National Offshore Oil Corp, China Construction Technology Co Ltd and China International Engineering Consulting Corp.
Noting that Chinese companies have been operating in accordance with the law and strictly observing the laws and regulations of host countries, Hua urged the US to stop its erroneous moves.
The spokeswoman also said what the US did severely runs counter to the market competition principle and international trade rules it claims.
"It will severely harm the national interests and image of the US," she added.
