Tianjin releases proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan

On Wednesday, the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee’s proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for Tianjin Municipal Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 were introduced.

The 14th Five-Year Plan period will witnesses the start of building a modern socialist city on the foundation created by the moderately prosperous society. It is pivotal for advancing high-quality development and opening up.

The proposals include 269 suggestions made based on extensive opinion collection across a broad cross-section of communities.

The proposals note Tianjin’s achievements in achieving a moderately prosperous society during the 13th Five-Year Plan, the opportunities and challenges facing the city during the 14th Five-Year Plan and the long-term goal of building a modern socialist metropolis by 2035. The proposals also address the guidance, principles and main objectives of economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

It also includes the critical tasks that must be undertaken during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and measures to strengthen and improve leadership and develop new advantages for attracting talented professionals. The rule of law for the government and society is basically in place, and institutions in all fields have been improved.

Based on the new development stage, the municipal government is committed to implementing the new development concept, promoting the new development pattern and adhering to the general principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability.

The local government is also focused on promoting high-quality development and meeting people’s growing needs for a better life. It will continue deepening supply-side structural reform, facilitating the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and accelerating a modern metropolitan governance system.
