Premier Li Keqiang will attend a series of leaders' meetings on East Asian cooperation via video link between Thursday and Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a news briefing on Tuesday.

At the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam, Li will attend the 23nd China-ASEAN leaders' meeting, the 23nd ASEAN-China, Japan and Republic of Korea leaders' meeting, the 15th East Asia Summit and the fourth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership leaders' meeting, Wang said.

Li also is set to address the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2020 via video link, he said.

Beijing looks forward to the leaders' meeting to focus on themes that include joint epidemic containment and common development while jointly safeguarding the prosperity and stability in East Asia, he said.

Wang highlighted the need for East Asian nations to deepen cooperation in COVID-19 vaccines, diagnosis and treatment and to boost experience sharing in this regard, saying that the level of joint epidemic prevention and control and capacities in coping with public health challenges must be enhanced.

The cooperation in connectivity, digital economy and smart cities must be stepped up, with measures to establish networks of fast lanes and green channels for personnel exchange to ensure an impeded industry and supply chains, he said.

He urged the nations to ensure the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership as scheduled to promote regional economic integration and economic globalization.
