Forum on new capital construction and 5G+ smart education held in Xi'an
The first New Capital Construction and 5G+ Smart Education Summit Forum was held on Oct 18 at the West China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor (Iharbor) in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Northwest China.
With the theme of how 5G empowers new development and how new capital construction creates a new future, the forum was sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education and the UNESCO International Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center (IKCEST). It was hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University.
The forum consisted of an opening ceremony, plus sub-forums on smart campus construction, new capital construction and data governance. Nearly 1,000 scholars in the field of informatization, plus representatives of universities and enterprises, participated in the meeting. They explored the future direction of the development of new capital construction and smart education, promoted the innovative application of 5G, artificial intelligence and the 'Internet of Things' on university campuses, and jointly promoted the creation of a new paradigm in China's higher education.
Zhang pointed out that in the face of the challenges and opportunities brought about by the fourth industrial revolution, universities and enterprises should take the initiative to devote more energy and resources to the research and application of new capital construction, vigorously promote cross integration with 5G+, new infrastructure, artificial intelligence and other new technologies with multidisciplinary fields, cultivate innovative technical talents, and consolidate the systems and mechanisms needed for the development of schools and national projects during the "14th five year plan" period.
Shu Hua, director of Education Informatization and Network Security Division, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, gave a speech at the forum, saying that against the background of global epidemic normalization, colleges and universities should become the key demonstration areas for the first applications of 5G, AI and other new technologies.
"We should deepen the integration and application of 5G and other new capital constructions in the field of higher education, comprehensively promote the reform and innovation of education and teaching, and accelerate the development of education modernization," Shu said.
The Artificial Intelligence Joint Center of Xi'an Jiaotong University is officially unveiled during the forum.
As a key part of the forum, the Artificial Intelligence Joint Center of Xi'an Jiaotong University was officially unveiled, providing an important platform for Xi'an Jiaotong University to further implement the national strategic plan for new capital construction, coordinate the training of artificial intelligence talents, and help enhance the strategic competitiveness of the country in the field of artificial intelligence.
