Flamingos at Wuhan Zoo get a checkup

"Those that are a little bit fat struggled more than the thin ones," he said.

The average age of the flamingos is around 20 years. They have been living at the zoo for 10 years.

Keepers give vaccines to birds in every spring and autumn to prevent infectious diseases, said Deng Liling, head of the zoo's animal hospital.

To date, all the birds, including red-crowned cranes, peacocks and swans, have completed the vaccination and body check process.
