TIANJIN
City sees 9.8 million tourists during holiday
China's northern port city of Tianjin received nearly 9.8 million visits during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday that started from Oct 1, said the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism on Friday. The visits were about 93.9 percent of the figure from last year. Tourism revenue totaled 5.87 billion yuan ($865 million) during the holiday, recovering to 92 percent of the revenue in the same period in 2019. Tourist sites in the city took measures to cap visitor numbers at 75 percent of their maximum capacity.
BEIJING
21 imported COVID-19 cases reported
The Chinese mainland reported 21 new imported COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 2,972, the National Health Commission said on Friday, adding that no new domestic cases were reported. Of the new imported cases, 10 were reported in Shaanxi, six in Shanghai, three in Guangdong and two in Liaoning. Among all the imported cases, 206 remained hospitalized, with one in severe condition, the commission said.

2 detained for blocking wedding cars for money
Local police in Huangchuan, Henan province, detained two women after a video went viral online showing a group of people blocking traffic in the middle of the road near a hotel to ask cars carrying just-wedded couples for money and cigarettes, the police said on Friday. One of them, surnamed Chen, was put under criminal detention and the other, surnamed Gao, was detained for 15 days. The police said the two have repeatedly blocked wedding motorcades to ask for money.
