Tianjin’s Hebei district has made progress in promoting economic and social transformation and development through the introduction of new economic drivers.

A five-year work plan issued by the district has proven effective in optimizing the business environment, creating characteristic industrial parks, supporting innovation and attracting talents, according to a news conference held Wednesday.

Luo Jinfei, deputy head of the district, said that the transaction value of technology contracts has reached more than 3 billion yuan($440.4 million) and 5581 people have settled down in the area in response to the favorable policies.

The district’s reputation is spreading thanks to high-end cultural activities such as Tianjin Design Week and roadshows for innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

The Italian Style Town, one of the district’s must-see areas, has more than 100 Italian-style villas built in the early 20th century and has also become a high-quality service provider. An agreement to renovate the historical town was recently inked with the urban planning consultant authority of the Campania region in Italy.

The district’s business approval and other governmental services are seeing accelerating intelligentization in the fields of medical care, enterprise services, and finance. In particular, its smart government-enterprise service platform is using artificial intelligence and big data to innovate and build an enterprise service platform, which is expected to be officially launched in 2021.
