Historic Shanghai Concert Hall to reopen Sunday following renovation

The restoration started in March and included repainting the arched ceiling and marble columns, updating and optimizing the acoustic and visual facilities, and redecorating a small multi-functional performing hall underground.

"We followed the advice of senior experts and made constant communications with different institutions to achieve the perfect balance between the protection of cultural relics and the improvement of theater functions and safety regulations," said Zuo Chengli, an architect and designer of the restoration plan.
