STAR-RATED PROPERTIES
The number of five-star hotels in China stood at 845 by the end of 2019, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said. According to a recent report released by the ministry, China has a total of 10,003 star-rated hotels registered. Together they brought in a total revenue of more than 190.7 billion yuan ($27.55 billion) in 2019. Room sales accounted for 42.49 percent and catering income 38.19 percent, the report said. Of the star-rated hotels, 204 are foreign-invested.
TOUR GUIDE EXAM
China's annual tour guide license exam is scheduled for Nov 14 and its interview part will be arranged before Dec 14, according to a circular issued by the general office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Tuesday. Highlighting the requirement of epidemic control, the circular said that applicants need to present a valid health QR code and go through a body temperature check to enter the examination site.
RESUMED AIR ROUTE
Air China has resumed the route between Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, and Germany's Frankfurt, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the first direct route between western China and Europe to resume since a reward and suspension mechanism was announced by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. Air China said it has formulated plans on pandemic prevention and control for the resumption of its flights. China has resumed regular passenger flights to 20 countries, Wu Shijie, deputy director of the Office of Aviation Safety at CAAC, said on Thursday.
MOONCAKE GIFT BOXES
With Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, Wanda Reign Wuhan in Hubei province launched six gift boxes last week, all featuring mooncakes in a variety of flavors and packages inspired by traditional Chinese culture. At the mooncake launch ceremony, the hotel in Wuhan, capital of Hubei, also unveiled Wanda's new drinks brand Lucie's Atelier.
