Tianjin private company donates 800 million for poverty alleviation

ROCKCHECK Group, a private company in Tianjin, has made progress in the campaign against poverty through investing in industry, education, and medical facilities in impoverished villages in China’s western and interior regions.
A traditional Chinese medicine base it built in Qinghai province is an example of its industry-supported cooperation model. It provided funds and skilled workers for the construction of the material base and cooperates with some 50 local farmers. The company is responsible for the sales of the products and revenues will benefit all the farmers involved. It also donates money to farmers wanting to start their own businesses.
The group provided money to build schools and hospitals in poverty-stricken areas. By June this year, the company had spent 29.8 billion yuan($4.29 billion) in advancing social progress, with donations reaching 800 million yuan.
To better promote specialty products from impoverished areas, the company has opened special areas for showcasing these products on its self-developed platform. This can add to farmers’ income even at home.
