Charles Freeman: Closing of Chinese Consulate very unwelcome

Veteran American diplomats Charles Freeman Jr., who was the main interpreter for President Richard Nixon during his 1972 China visit, said the closing of the Chinese Consulate in Houston would be very unwelcome to people in Texas, who have become accustomed to the consulate and value its presence. "I think it will be very sorry to see it go," he said.
