BOOST TO RURAL TOURISM
Culture and tourism authorities across China have been encouraged to introduce a package of measures that support rural tourism development and help its market recovery, according to a circular from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism last week. Among the measures are accelerated tourism infrastructure construction and the launch of high-quality rural tourism routes. According to the circular, culture and tourism authorities at all levels, while preventing COVID-19 cases, should take a variety of measures to implement policies that promote business resumption in the rural tourism sector.
ARRIVAL IN TIBET
Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region on Wednesday welcomed the first transregional tour group since the COVID-19 outbreak. The 20 tourists are from Hebei, Zhejiang, Shaanxi and Jiangsu provinces and Tianjin. Tibet announced the resumption of transregional group tours from Monday. Tourism spots are now allowed to host up to 50 percent of their normal daily capacity, up from the previous 30 percent.
1M PASSENGERS SERVED
China's independently developed ARJ21 regional aircraft have served 1 million passengers as of July 20, said its developer, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, on Tuesday. As China's first turbo-fan regional passenger jetliner, the ARJ21 can fly in alpine and plateau regions and can adapt to various airport conditions. A pioneer of Chinese commercial airplanes, the ARJ21 aircraft was put into commercial service in June 2016 by Chengdu Airlines.
NEW APPOINTMENT
Jacky Gao has been appointed the general manager of Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside, which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year. He will be fully responsible for overall operations and strategic management during the pre-opening period and after the hotel fully opens.
