Tianjin hospitals assist in impoverished areas

Hospitals in Tianjin -- located in China’s major northern municipality and coastal metropolis of Tianjin – have provided help to advance diagnosis and treatment, management and staff training at hospitals in the interior and less developed regions such as Qinghai and Gansu provinces, according to medical officials.

They said the port city’s first class hospitals have teamed up to boost the development  of the weak departments of their counterparts in the inland western areas, according to a news conference held by the Tianjin municipal Health Commission on Thursday.

Long-term targeted assistance plans are being tailored to facilitate local hospitals in gathering medical resources, technologies and top people.

Tianjin’s backbone doctors have been sent to the targeted hospitals, not only to support taking care of patients, but also to beef up the skills training of local medics.

The people's hospital in Hetian county, in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has registered a 55.4 percent rise in sophisticated surgery since the arrival of the Tianjin doctors, local officials said.

At the same time, the city has also speed up establishing distant diagnosis platforms, using the internet and digital-powered technologies, to support more impoverished areas, they added.
