County in Xinjiang shines for health recovery

After being named a national Top 10 county for summer tourism and dubbed China's natural oxygen bar, Tekes county in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region gained a new calling card on July 14 by becoming one of the best destinations for health recovery based on its pleasant climate.
The county is renowned for its planned roads, whose design resembles the Eight Diagrams, a Taoist cosmology representing the fundamental principles of reality. The layout of the county is seen as an octagon from above. It also has the Kalajun Grassland, a World Natural Heritage site.
The latest title for Tekes county was conferred by the Public Meteorological Service Centre of the China Meteorological Administration, along with experts from the China Meteorological Service Association. For criteria, the judges used basic indexes, including climate, water quality, oxygen balance and oxygen content, as well as supporting indicators such as transportation, medical service, accommodations, food quality and tourism service capacity.
