‘Make Music Day’ creates path to a better life


As this year is the last for the country to achieve its goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the theme of Make Music Day 2020 is that creative education helps society prosper.
Zeng Zemin, deputy head of CMIA, said on a news conference on Friday: “Musical performance can better help improve the overall quality of people’s lives, as well as the cultural pursuit of a better life.”
Make Music Day has made its presence felt in over 800 cities in China since its first introduction by the China Musical Instrument Association (CMIA) in 2016.
With the enthusiasm of musical enterprises and cultural institutions, a total of 500,000 performers have performed in 8,000 activities, attracting visitors totaling 10 million.
This year, 105 children from elementary schools in Beijing will get together in a wind orchestra for an online performance of Ode to the Motherland.
31 clarinets players from across the world will perform the song Tico Tico, and help boost people’s confidence in the fight against COVID-19.
120 members of the Cathay Youth Symphony Orchestra, with an average age of 13, are participating in online and offline performances.
They come from 18 primary schools and 25 secondary schools in Tianjin. Over the past two decades, they have won numerous national awards and performed in over 100 countries and regions, presenting the world with the beautiful music of Tianjin.
