Nipsea Group develops anti-virus coating for metal coils

Nipsea Group, Asia's largest paints and coatings manufacturer by sales revenue, announced it has developed an anti-virus coil coating product to assist both China and the world's fight against infectious diseases.
The product, developed by the Shanghai innovation center of Nippon Paint China, a country branch of Nipsea Group, has adopted special virus inhibitory technology specifically for the pre-coated metal coil industry with end applications in construction and home appliances, the company said in a statement.
The antiviral mechanism destroys the living environment or the structure of the core components of the virus - nucleic acids and proteins — to inhibit replication and then "kill" the virus, according to Nipsea.
According to a virus inactivation test conducted by a Chinese third-party testing agency based on the latest international standards, the inactivation rate of the new anti-virus coil coating developed by Nippon Paint for H1N1 virus is more than 99 percent, which proves such products can kill more than 99 percent of H1N1 virus within 24 hours.
Based on scientific research, H1N1 influenza virus and coronavirus are both enveloped viruses.
The coil coatings from Nippon Paint are widely used in household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, TVs and other appliance housing, and various construction applications such as burglar-proof doors, room cleaning, interior decoration, hospital and railway stations, the statement said.
Once the anti-virus coil coatings from Nippon Paint are applied in places where people often touch, Nipsea Group said viruses will be killed if they stay on the surface. This blocks virus transmission, greatly reduces potential risk of transmission and builds a protective wall for human health.
