On Wednesday the WHO stressed that hydroxychloroquine, the drug US President Donald Trump claims to be taking to ward off COVID-19, has not been found to be effective.
Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, said the drug is only used in relation to clinical trials.
"Warnings have been issued by many authorities regarding potential side effects of the drug," he added.
