The UK government has pledged 500,000 pounds towards research on training sniffer dogs to detect people infected with COVID-19.
Trials have begun to see if the dogs can smell the distinctive body odor of people with COVID-19, in a similar way to those with malaria.
The research will be conducted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, in association with Durham University and a British charity, Medical Detection Dogs.
