Some sectors see Q1 drop in job openings
BEIJING-Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, China saw a reduction in job positions of 27 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, according to a report released by Guanghua School of Management at Peking University.
Recruitment in the sectors of purchasing and trading, advertising and exhibition and automobile sales took the most serious hit, with the number of positions available falling by more than 50 percent, according to the report.
The pandemic's impact is highly related to the category of the industry and the scale and feature of the enterprise affected, the report said.
Bucking the trend, occupations such as cooking, technical work, production management and banking were the least affected, according to the report.
The report said that enterprises with smaller sizes and positions with lower incomes are more likely to be affected by the public health crisis.
With the implementation of supporting policies, employment is expected to be gradually restored as consumer demand tentatively makes a return to normal levels and people go back to work, said the report.
