Vito Romeo has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Beijing. Born in Italy, Romeo has steered his career journey through different countries from Europe to Asia. He has held senior hospitality positions in multiple brands including Rosewood, Ritz-Carlton and Shangri-La.
Carl Duggan has been appointed general manger of Grand Hyatt Shenyang in Liaoning province. Duggan has spent the past 30 years working in Asia and has extensive experience in China, Thailand and Singapore.

AIR TRAVEL
Chinese airlines reported a total loss of 33.62 billion yuan ($4.8 billion) in the first quarter of 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic hit travel demand, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China. In February, the airlines suffered a record loss of 20.96 billion yuan as large parts of the country were on lockdown amid efforts to curb the spread of the virus. The total number of passengers in March fell 71.7 percent year-on-year to 15.13 million.
ONLINE BOOKINGS
Guizhou province has developed online platforms to support tourism while ensuring the safety of visitors, according to the China Travelers' Forum that was held in the provincial capital of Guiyang on Wednesday. An online reservation platform was launched on the same day for 29 scenic areas and tourist attractions in Guiyang. All visitors are required to book in advance on the platform, which is available on the official website, WeChat and Sina Weibo account of the city's bureau of culture and tourism.
