China is gradually getting back to work amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, as the job market slowly warmed up during the past month, a new report said.

The number of new jobs surged 57.5 percent year-on-year to 1.37 million in March this year, rising a surprising 273 percent from the previous month, according to data from Chinese business information database Qichacha.

The finding showed there were 1.74 million jobs during the period from February to March.

South China's Guangdong province topped all other regions, creating 377,500 jobs during the February-March period. Beijing and Shanghai ranked at second and third place, creating 283,100 and 228,400 jobs, respectively.

Qichacha noted manufacturing contributed the largest share of new jobs from February to March, followed by science and technology, and leasing and commercial service.

Lily Ma, head of Nutanix in China, said while the rest of the world continues to deal with the fallout from the forced lockdown of its citizens and the stifling of its economies, China is racing to a post epidemic future.

"In the space of a few weeks, the country has moved from defense to offense, embraced the lessons from the outbreak, and begun mobilizing resources to ensure our citizens, businesses and economy rapidly recover and are better prepared to survive and thrive any future crisis," Ma said.

In fact, the Chinese government has adopted a series of measure to boost the economy and keep employment stable. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has launched the 100-day Online Recruitment Plan, which will provide more than 10 million jobs by the end of June.
