Medical team arrives in Venezuela to help battle pandemic
A medical team consisting of eight front-line experts in East China's Jiangsu province arrived in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, on Monday to help local people fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The experts are from the province's top hospitals and specialize in infectious disease control, laboratory testing and respiratory and critical disease sciences.
Huang Mao, the team leader, is the head of the province's coronavirus pneumonia treatment expert group. The province, with a population of more than 80 million permanent residents and a floating population of 20 million, cured all its 631 confirmed cases of the disease in mid-March.
The experts brought medicines and equipment to Venezuela, including respirators, testing kits and protective clothing. They will help the local government assess the pandemic's overall situation, share experience and offer advice on treating patients and preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
