Dozens more medical workers will take the high-speed train back to the city. All of them will be quarantined for 14 days before they can return to their homes.

A total of 42,600 medical professionals across the country have been sent to assist the epidemic-stricken province since late January. About 1,600 of them are from Shanghai.

The total number of confirmed infections in Hubei stood at 67,800 as of Tuesday midnight. The number of daily new infections has dwindled to single digits since March 11, according to the National Health Commission.
