Report provides profile of young netizens

1. As of July 31, 2018, China had 169 million netizens under the age of 18.
2. About 92 percent of them used smartphones to surf the internet.
3. Nearly 70 percent used their own cellphones to connect to the internet.
4. About 76 percent spent two hours online per day, while 13.2 percent surfed the internet for three or more hours every day.
5. They used the internet to study, listen to music, play games and chat.
6. More than 40 percent were interested in short videos online.
7. About 16 percent said they had experienced cyberbullying and leaks of personal information, while 30.3 percent had read or viewed harmful content online, including scenes of violence, gambling, drug use and pornography.
8. Only 15 percent went online to find legal information or to request legal aid to protect themselves.
