Buttigieg wins delayed Iowa count
US Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg narrowly won the chaotic Iowa caucuses, collecting 14 delegates, ahead of Bernie Sanders with 12, according to the state party on Sunday. The delayed results were marred by multiple technical issues, and the outcome has been subject to complaints and demands for a "recanvassing" check of the vote. Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and Sanders, the senator from Vermont, were separated by a razor-thin margin in the caucuses held last week. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren won eight delegates to send to the Democratic convention in July that will choose who takes on Trump in the November election. Former US vice-president Joe Biden won six and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar won one.
Gunman ambushes NY police twice in 12 hours
A gunman was arrested after he ambushed police officers in the Bronx twice in 12 hours, authorities said, wounding two in attacks that brought outrage from officials who blamed the violence on an atmosphere of anti-police rhetoric. Robert Williams, 45, was captured after he walked into a police station in the Bronx and started shooting shortly before 8 am on Sunday, police said. His shots struck a lieutenant in the arm and narrowly missed other police personnel before he ran out of bullets, lay down and tossed his pistol, officials said. That attack came just hours after Williams approached a patrol van in the same part of the Bronx and fired at two officers inside, wounding one before escaping on foot, police said.

World famous street art laneway defaced
A group of people has defaced a laneway in the Australian city of Melbourne, spraying paint over its world-renowned street art and graffiti which has accumulated over decades. A video posted to social media on Sunday showed over 10 perpetrators, with their faces covered, spraying paint from adapted fire extinguishers across the walls of Hosier Lane in broad daylight. The motivation for the attack is unclear but Melbourne Mayor Sally Capp described it as an act of vandalism and said that the matter had been referred to the police. Melbourne's street artworks greatly contribute to the city's international appeal and Hosier Lane itself attracts roughly 5,000 visitors per day, according to authorities.
