Train mechanics still at work during epidemic

Zhou Peng, a mechanic at the Chongqing section of China Railway Chengdu Group Co Ltd, had not been home for half a month because of the novel coronavirus outbreak during the Spring Festival travel rush.
In spite of this, Zhou, who is in charge of the maintenance of CR200J bullet trains, stuck to his position as usual. Zhou Peng and his colleagues had to go back and forth multiple times on the roof, bottom, inside and outside of a train for a number of inspection and maintenance checks.
Every night, Zhou and his colleagues each needed to conduct maintenance checks for three sets of trains, with each set taking two and a half to three hours, and each person taking an average of over 20,000 steps, equivalent to 9 to 10 kilometers.
In Zhou Peng's workshop, there are 45 mechanics like Zhou, who also is a Communist Party member. Their hard work, day and night, helps ensure a safe journey for travelers.
