International ice and snow festival opens in Harbin

The 36th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival kicked off on Sunday in Harbin, capital city of northeastern China's Heilongjiang province.

The opening ceremony was held at the Harbin Ice and Snow World, a 600,000-square-meter park that is built each winter with ice.

The annual ice and snow festival, a major event for the "Ice City" of Harbin to welcome tourists from around the world, will run till the beginning of April.

A series of activities, including ice-snow tourism, ice-snow culture, ice-snow fashion, ice-snow sports and ice-snow trade, will be held during the festival.
