BEIJING

New animation group reveals its plans

China Media Group established its animation group in Beijing on Sunday. Part of China Central Television, the animation group aims to bring more uplifting, entertaining and educational content to children all over China. Built on the foundations of CCTV's former animation company, it is now home to the station's animation resources, with its establishment marking a comprehensive and in-depth industrial upgrade in the field. At its launch ceremony, the group introduced plans for producing over 20 children's films and cartoon series. More than 300 guests from China and abroad attended the ceremony, including directors from the main online streaming media platforms in China and representatives of foreign animation companies.

CHONGQING

Municipality adds four national wetland parks

Chongqing has created four new national-level wetland parks, bringing the total in the southwestern municipality to 19. Chongqing sits at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, covering a wetland area of more than 207,000 hectares. Its national wetland parks now cover a combined area of 20,000 hectares. Chongqing passed a regulation on wetland protection in September which mandated that local governments at all levels should take measures to improve the quality and functions of the wetlands. The regulation came into effect on Dec 1.

HAINAN

Shore power facilities boosted on island

Hainan province has issued an implementation plan for promoting the construction of shore power facilities at 65 berths to meet demand from ships, the province's Transport Department said. According to the plan, provincial departments and city governments will form a joint working mechanism by the end of February. The plan also specified policy support and financial subsidies to encourage social funds to participate in the construction and set the deadline for the inspection and acceptance of the facilities at the end of October. The island province will also work to reduce the cost of shore power use and promote the reduction of atmospheric pollutant emissions from anchored ships.
