Chinese art to show at 2020 Asia Week in NYC

NEW YORK-More than 10 galleries and auction houses featuring ancient or contemporary Chinese art will participate in Asia Week New York next year. A total of 37 international galleries and six auction houses, including Bonhams, Christie's and Doyle, will celebrate Asian art and culture at various events.
Asia Week New York will offer a nonstop round of gallery open houses, auction sales, exhibitions, lectures, symposiums and special events from March 12 to 19.
Some events will continue through March 21.
Katherine Martin, Asia Week New York's chairwoman, says a vital new goal of Asia Week New York is to increase and invigorate educational initiatives by tapping into the vast knowledge of exhibitors and coordinating additional programing with some of New York City's finest cultural institutions.
"With the best-informed minds in Asian art convening in New York in March, we can expand our lecture program so that even more attendees can partake in a dynamic exchange of ideas within the various collecting sectors," she says.
Indian, Himalayan, Southeast Asian, Japanese and Korean art will also be presented by different organizations.
To celebrate the week's festivities, an invitation-only reception hosted by Asia Week and the Department of Asian Art of the Metropolitan Museum of Art will take place in the museum's galleries. A Chinese version of the event website will be available by February.
