Chengdu alley among world's most beautiful
CNN has announced a list of the most beautiful streets in the world-and among the 21 is a narrow alleyway in Chengdu, Sichuan province. The Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) style wooden houses and shops, replete with red lanterns and traditional signage give the street an ambience steeped in history. While it was restored into its current form in 2004, the 550-meter-long street traces its history back some 1,800 years, making it one of the oldest shopping streets in Sichuan.
