Forum marks 20 years of Macao's Basic Law
A symposium is being held on Tuesday morning at the Great Hall of the People to mark the 20th anniversary of the implementation of the Macao Special Administrative Region Basic Law, according to a spokesperson for the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. The event is held by the office in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. Leaders of the Communist Party of China and the State, the chief executive and some key officials of the Macao SAR, heads of the Guangdong provincial government, members of the Macao SAR Basic Law Committee and experts and scholars engaged in Basic Law research will attend the symposium, the spokesperson said.
Grassroots police officers are honored
China has selected 30 outstanding grassroots police officers, five awardees of special respect and 35 recipients for nomination awards. The list was selected in a campaign jointly launched by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Ministry of Public Security in August. The campaign was aimed at encouraging police across the country to work hard to maintain political security and social stability and to improve public understanding of police work, according to a statement by the two departments.
Long March 8 rocket passes engine test
China has successfully tested the second stage engine of the Long March 8 rocket, preparing for its maiden flight in 2020, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The hydrogen-oxygen engine worked normally in the test and was shut down after completing all test procedures. Developed by the CASC, the Long March 8 rocket is a new type of rocket that uses module design and can be prepared in a short time, making it competitive for commercial launch. The Long March 8 rocket is being assembled, and it is estimated that it will participate in
10 to 20 launches annually after it hits the market.

2,000 grams of meth seized in rare mail case
Police in Yunnan province have cracked a rare drug case in which nearly 2,000 grams of methamphetamine hidden in an express parcel were seized, local authorities said on Sunday. Police in Changning county, under the city of Baoshan, received a tip that an express parcel delivered from the China-Myanmar border city of Ruili to Kunming, capital of Yunnan, had a high probability of containing drugs. At around 9 pm on Nov 11, Kunming police intercepted the package and seized two white cartons containing 100 bags of methamphetamine weighing 1,966 grams, hidden in 100 packages of facial masks.
