Video: Cinema, 'vehicle for cultural dialogue'

Film is an art form that transcends borders, and a universal language that goes directly to our hearts. From Nov 15 to Sunday, the Festival of German Cinema was held in Beijing. During the event, our website met three guests-Simone Baumann, the managing director of German Films; Clemens Treter, the director of the Goethe-Institut, and Katrin Buchholz, the cultural counselor of the German embassy in China-to hear their insights about Sino-German cinematic cooperation and how to introduce Chinese culture to a wider audience.

Reading: Top architect releases new book

Japanese architect Kengo Kuma's new book Kengo Kuma: A Lab for Materials has been released. As a professor of the Graduate School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Kuma has 30 years of experience in architecture. In the book, he collects 81 examples of architecture and divides them into 10 categories by materials including bamboo, wood, paper, earth and stone. Kuma uses photos, sketches and blueprints to discuss how he crafts different materials to explore the possibilities in Eastern architecture.

Travel: Christmas village opens in Mohe

The Christmas Village Disney Snow Sculpture Park in Beiji Village, known as China's "Arctic village" in Mohe, a county in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, welcomed its first visitors last week. The main snow sculpture, Santa Claus, which is 50 meters long and 13 meters high, helps create a Christmas atmosphere. Mohe, as the coolest tourist attraction in the country, is warming up for a record influx of visitors eager to sample the latest lures in this hot spot of the cold season.

Biz: Shanghai-made Tesla enters market

Tesla officially unveiled on Friday its Model 3 electric vehicle manufactured in a Shanghai gigafactory in the city, and announced it will start delivering the made-in-China cars before late January. The Model 3 vehicles have entered Tesla-run stores in China. However, as it has not obtained the regulatory permit to drive on Chinese roads, the Shanghai-built Model 3 currently can be used for in-store display instead of test drives.
