Interview with Joe Chan Cho-kwong
The waves of protests, which began in June in opposition to the now-officially withdrawn extradition bill, made Joe Chan Cho-kwong, former chairman of the Junior Police Officers' Association, more determined to serve the people of Hong Kong by running in a District Council election.
He told China Daily that police should be respected and supported as they are just enforcing the law and maintaining order in accordance with the law.
Chan will face two election opponents - Fu Pik-chun and Mark Leung Hon-kei, in Sheung Shun, Kwun Tong district.
