London tube station evacuated, closed due to 'casualty on track'

LONDON - A tube station in central London was evacuated and closed shortly after mid-day on Wednesday as emergency services were dealing with a "casualty on the track."

London police was called to Oxford Circus station at around 1240 GMT and found a person with potentially life-threatening injuries at the scene.

The incident, not being treated as suspicious by the police, caused disruption across the Victoria line, which was initially suspended.

After services resumed, there were severe delays on the rest of the line. The tube station reopened at around 1400 GMT.

On Monday morning, hundreds of commuters were evacuated from Victoria station in central London due to a casualty on the tracks.

As a result, Victoria line was suspended at rush hour between Warren Street and Brixton and there were severe delays on the rest of the line.
