Beijing Hyundai, a Sino-South Korean joint venture based in Beijing, is to launch its small-sized SUV, the ix25, on Oct 30 in Southwest China's Chongqing city.

A test drive held last week in Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, allowed media representatives from around the country to have a preview and try the model designed for the young.

The SUV adopts Hyundai's latest design philosophy of Sensuous Sportiness so it has an attractive look among competitors in the segment.

It measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height. A 2,610 mm wheelbase offers spacious knee space for passengers in the second row. The luggage space of 444 liters make it easy for travel lovers.

The model sports a Gamma II 1.5 liter engine and has a fuel consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 km, the lowest in its segment. It has a maximum output of 84.4 kW and a top torque of 143.8 Nm.

The SUV boasts a 10.4 inch display, via which the driver can control things from air conditioning to music and navigation. Other convenient functions available in the car include wireless charging and air purification.

Featuring the Hyundai Smart Sense system, it has up to 10 driving assist functions ranging from lane keeping and front collision warning to driver attention warning and driving view monitoring, which are rarely found in models of the same class.
