Death toll in east India's rain-related incidents reaches over 25

NEW DELHI -- Over 25 people have died in more than last 48 hours in rain-related incidents in India's eastern state of Bihar, media reported on Monday.

Heavy rainfall in several parts of the state has affected roads, railways, air traffic, healthcare facilities and schools.

According to the state-run broadcaster, Patna district administration has ordered the closure of all schools till Tuesday. Several teams of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed in affected areas of the state.

It is also reported that the state government has established a State Emergency Operation Centre to coordinate with the rescue and relief work.

India Meteorological Department on Monday predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in Bihar.
