State Councilor Wang Yi to attend UN General Assembly
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Monday.
Wang will lead a delegation to participate in the general debate. He will also attend the Climate Action Summit and the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (SDG Summit) as the special envoy of President Xi Jinping, Hua said at a regular press conference in Beijing.
The 74th regular Session of the General Assembly will open on Tuesday and the General Debate opens on Sept 24.
During the UNGA, Wang will also attend a series of bilateral and multilateral activities.
Wang will fully introduce the achievements China has made over the past 70 years, elaborate on China's foreign policy and basic positions regarding the current international situation as well as major regional and global issues, Hua said.
The State Councilor will express China's firm support for multilateralism and the UN and promote China's communication and cooperation with other countries and international organizations, she said.
"China hopes to ... make joint efforts in resolving international and regional hotspot issues, as well as global issues of common concern," Hua said.
