Fashion Design Forum held in Xi'an

The Silk Road Fashion Design Forum was held on September 10 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China to further promote fashion design development.

Famous fashion designers, experts and representatives of enterprises from all over the country gathered at Xi'an University of Engineering for the event.

According to Dai Hong, vice-president of the university, the forum was organized by the Eurasian Economic Forum-Silk Road International and the 2019 Organizing Committee of Innovation Design Week and was sponsored by the Around-University Innovation Industry Belt Management Committee of Xi'an Beilin District and the Fashion and Art Design College of Xi'an University of Engineering.

Dai said that the forum explored the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional clothing culture under the development opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative. Its purpose was to lead the fashion future with innovative ideas, to deepen the integration of the garment design industry, to convey the interpretations of the new generation of designers to the profession and fashion, and to provide a communication and interactive platform for Chinese fashion designers. In addition, the platform was intended to help Xi'an to become "the capital of innovative design".

Zou Yibo, deputy director of Beilin District of Xi'an City, said that in recent years Beilin District and Xi'an University of Engineering have cooperated comprehensively in carrier construction, achievement transformation and talent innovation, and have achieved certain results.

“Next step, Beilin District will strive to promote the transformation of university resources into a new economy, and achieve a win-win situation creating new advantages for universities and new momentum for Beilin,” the deputy director said.

At the forum, Li Chaode, dean of Xiamen Institute of Arts and Crafts, Fuzhou University, Bian Xiangyang, vice chairman of the China Association of Fashion Designers, Liu Wei, famous fashion designer, Su Yonggang, professor of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Cui Rongrong, professor of Jiangnan University, and Xu Yanhui, a new designer, gave speeches on the topic of innovative design in fashion.
