Maodou promotes car sales in rural Sichuan

Maodou, the online new car platform of Chehaoduo Group, kicked off an event to promote car sales in Nanchong, Sichuan province, on Aug 22 as part of its efforts to boost car demand in China's vast rural area.
China's passenger car sales dipped 4.1 percent in 2018, the first time since 1990, and the authorities promulgated measures to boost consumption of vehicles earlier this year.
Zhu Xiaoping, senior vice-president of Chehaoduo, said as a one-stop new car sales and service platform, Maodou is the first in the industry to organize such an initiative.
Zhu said he expects more regions to join the initiative to promote car purchases in rural areas and thus boost China's overall vehicle market.
Through the event, Maodou is making it easier for residents in rural areas to have their own cars with its preferential financial policies and offering them a big number of vehicle choices.
At the Nanchong event, nearly 200 models from 40 brands are available to choose, according to the company.
Zhang Hao, a senior sales manager of SAIC Motor's MG brand, said "Thanks to the efforts of Maodou, we are convinced that the event will be successful."
Xu Yie, secretary-general of Sichuan Electronic Commerce Association, said the move will produce win-win results.
"It will enable rural residents in Nanchong to own their vehicles and meanwhile boost local economic development," said Xu.
