Searching for good design in Xi'an launched

A campaign themed "Search for Good Design" was launched in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, on July 24 by the Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau, the Xi'an Science and Technology Association and Xi'an Newspaper Media Group, under the guidance of the China Innovative Design Industry Strategic Alliance.

The event is sponsored by the China Good Design Xi'an Center, the Silk Road Innovative Design Industry Alliance, the Xi'an Beilin Around-University Innovative Industry Belt Management Committee and the Xi'an Design Federation.

It aims at collecting and evaluating the innovative design projects and works of "Good Design" in 2019 for Xi'an, and establishing the brand of "Xi'an Design" and "Xi'an Creation", in order to develop innovative design and help the city become the capital of hard science and technology.

The activity solicits innovative design projects and works from design institutes, scientific research institutes, universities, enterprises and individuals.

The collection focuses on design in various applications, including aeroengines, new materials, high-end CNC machine tools and robots, rail transit equipment, aerospace equipment, marine engineering equipment and high-end ships, electronic information products, automobiles, medical health and other innovative areas such as design products and systems, processes and equipment, and business and service models.

The activity will last till September. Applicants need to register and log on to the China Good Design Official Website (cgd. ckcest.cn) to complete an online declaration, and contact the China Good Design Xi'an Center to submit paper materials.

Searching for "Good Design" in Xi'an is an important part of China's "Good Design" evaluation activities.

In 2013, the Chinese Academy of Engineering launched a major consulting project, "Research on the Development Strategy of Innovative Design", which lasted two years. With the efforts of nearly 20 academicians and more than 100 experts, the project achieved important results.

In order to implement the national strategy, the China Innovative Design Industry Strategic Alliance and the China Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center of the Chinese Academy of Engineering established the China Good Design Award in 2015.

As a strategic partner of China's "Good Design", the China Good Design Xi'an Center, the Silk Road Innovative Design Industry Alliance and the Xi'an Beilin Around-University Innovative Industry Belt Management Committee have recommended more than 80 innovative designs based on regional characteristics in the past two years, and have won 2 gold awards, 2 silver awards, 9 creative awards, 4 excellence awards and 1 popular award.
