Fufeng county is blessed with superior natural conditions for growing kiwi fruit and has proved one of the most ideal places in China for the crop. In recent years, Wujing town has given full play to its innate advantage to develop the modern fruit industry and led the local farmers and low income family along the road to wealth.

The Wujing kiwi fruit demonstration base follows the cooperative development mode of "enterprises plus poor households". Shaanxi Fruit Industry Group leases the farmers' land and provides technical support and marketing channels, while the poor households can contract some land and manage their own orchards. Then the company purchases the ripe fruit at the agreed price and takes charge of sales and distribution. This pattern not only relieves poor farmers' worries of lacking funds and technology, but also facilitates unified processing and packaging of kiwi fruit products.

In Fufeng, there are altogether 848 specialized agricultural cooperatives, 122 family farms and 54 agricultural leading enterprises. At present, over half of the local farmers have joined these emerging agricultural cooperative organizations.

In addition to obtaining land transfer income, the farmers can buy shares and acquire stock dividends or work in the park and get service fees. In the Fufeng Huatai Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative alone, 438 poor households have received dividends in the last couple of years.

West of Guanzhong Plain and east of Baoji city, Fufeng county has long been a farming area. In 2012, the four-square-kilometer Fufeng Emerging Industrial Park was established with the approval of the county government and a growing number of local farmers began working in factories instead of on farmland.
