South Suzhou's Wujiang district in Jiangsu province, Northeast Jiaxing's Jiashan county in Zhejiang province and West Shanghai's Qingpu district will be jointly built into a demonstration zone for ecological green development in the Yangtze River Delta region, Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Tuesday.

The demonstration zone is a key project concerning the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, Ying said.

Meanwhile, the expanded area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone is awaiting the central government's final approval and the Hongqiao business area in western Shanghai will also play crucial roles in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, he said.

The integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region was elevated to a national strategy in November 2018. According to Ying, the development plan of the area has been recently approved and published.
