HP aims to lure Chinese gamers

US tech heavyweight HP Inc is looking to tap into China's gaming market to grow its personal computer business.
Jason Juang, HP China managing director, said in an exclusive interview with China Daily, "Boasting 619 million e-gamers, China is now the world's largest gaming market. Such a sprawling size has triggered changes in what consumers demand."
According to Juang, gaming images are getting increasingly refined and sophisticated, which generates higher demand for PC hardware.
"I am very excited when seeing my daughter play games. The games are just like immersive movies, with players functioning as film directors who can control how the story develops,"Juang said.
With the rapid development of China's e-sports market, gaming has become a way of life for the younger generation to demonstrate their personality – it's become a cultural phenomenon, Juang said.
"Apart from building tailor-made hardware for Chinese gaming enthusiasts, we will also step up our push to organize offline activities to help create bigger gaming communities in the country," said Juang.
To build its popularity with young consumers, HP has joined hands with RNG, a Chinese professional e-sports team that won the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational championship, an annual, global League of Legends gaming tournament.
The company unveiled in May what it claims to be the "world's first dual-screen design" to satisfy growing demand from gamers in China.
With an additional screen above the keyboard, the product features real-time screen mirroring that can cut and magnify parts of the main display while gaming.
