A cruise liner purposely-built and renovated for the Asian and Chinese luxury market was launched in Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in mid April.

Named Explorer Dream, the cruise liner belongs to Dream Cruises' fleet under Genting Cruise Lines and is the first of its kinds in Eastern China.

Built with German craftsmanship, Explorer Dream offers 928 cabins and lower berth capacity of 1,856 passengers.

The liner is aimed to tap into the Eastern and North Chinese market, which is supposed to be five times larger than the south, according to Hui Lim, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Genting Hong Kong.

Sailings from Shanghai homeport, the cruise liner will take guests to popular destinations in Japan that range from 3-night to 6-night itineraries, such as a 3-night trip to Kyoto, Osaka or Kobe, or a 2-night round-trip to Okinawa.

Starting from 1 July, Explorer Dream will begin her homeport deployment in Tianjin with more summer cruise options for family travelers.
