Dancing lion in golden cole flower field

A performance featuring lion dance on high poles took place in a large cole flower field in Fengdu county, Southwest China's Chongqing, on March 25. The special performance was held to celebrate the spring season spring as well as to bring prosperity and good luck for the year, as the beautiful yellow flowers bloom in the region.
The high-pole lion dance is an intangible cultural heritage in Fengdu. In Chinese culture, the lion symbolizes power, wisdom, and superiority.
About 1,800 years ago, people began to mimic the appearance and actions of lions in a performance, which evolved into the lion dance in the Three Kingdoms Period (220–280). In the Tang Dynasty (618–907), the lion dance was one of the major performances staged for the royal class.
