Xi'an Jiaotong University, headquartered in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China, held a press conference on March 27, focusing on two scientific and technological achievements: transparent ionic conductor soft materials and a wireless intelligent temperature online monitoring system for power grid equipment.

Representatives of investment institutions and technology incubators set up face-to-face communication links meant to build a communication platform to link scientific and technological achievements in the laboratory and industrialization promotion and application.

Ding Shujiang, professor of the college of science at the university, introduced the technology of transparent ionic conductor soft materials in the context of increased demand for flexible wearable devices. Soft high-performance ionic conductors with unique functions are gradually being favored.Professor Ding Shujiangin introduces the technology of transparent ionic conductor soft materials at the conference. "Unlike electronic conductors, ionic conductors use ions as charge carriers to transmit signals, which have the advantages of high transparency, good flexibility, a simple fabrication process and significant cost advantages. They have realized many functions that electronic conductors find difficult to achieve, thus making modern technologies possible such as electrochemical transistors, sensors, flexible touch screens and electronically controlled dimming glass,”  Ding said.

In the power transmission and distribution system, the number of substations and transmission and distribution lines is large and widely distributed, but many devices have not been integrated into the existing monitoring system. When a large number of switches and contacts are in heavy load operation, they are often overheated due to aging or excessive contact resistance, which may lead to fire and large-scale blackouts.Professor Jia Lixin of Electrical College introduces the technology of a wireless intelligent temperature online monitoring system for power grid equipment to the conference. For this reason, Professor Jia Lixin of Electrical College brought the technology of a wireless intelligent temperature online monitoring system for power grid equipment to the conference.

This technology monitors the temperature of key nodes. It can detect hidden trouble early, prevent damage through overheating, ensure the safety of the power supply, and solve problems of electromagnetic interference in a high voltage environment and excess power consumption and shortened lives of wireless modules through automatic networking of equipment.

Based on their own specialties, representatives of investment institutions and technology incubators exchanged views with the professors on the transformation, investment requirements, team structure and development prospects of the two scientific and technological achievements, and put forward suggestions to promote their market transformation.

Li Xiaopeng, deputy general manager of the Xi'an Science and Technology Financial Service Center, said that for a long time the Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau has been promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and encouraging colleges and universities to establish a more open and shared management mechanism for the transfer and transformation of research results. The investment institutions participating in this conference also embody this model.

“I hope that through this conference, we will further tap the advantages of scientific and technological resources in colleges and universities, promote the continuous strengthening of university/enterprise cooperation in production, teaching and research, accelerate the pace of transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and form scientific and technological industrialization to stimulate local economic growth,” Li said.
